What columns does my file need?
One row per worker. Required: gender (F/M, or female/male; anything else is counted separately and left out of gaps) and base_pay (gross annual basic pay). Optional: variable_pay (bonuses, overtime, allowances and benefits in kind for the year), hours (hours paid in the year; strongly recommended for part-time staff) and category (your category of workers). Commas, semicolons or tabs, and decimal commas, all work.

Pay quartiles
Workers ranked by hourly pay and split into four equal groups.
Gap by category of workers
| Category | Women / men | Mean gap | Median gap | Basic pay gap | Variable pay gap | 5% test |

How we calculate
- Pay gap = (men's average − women's average) ÷ men's average × 100 (Art. 3(1)(c)). Positive means men are paid more.
- Pay level is total pay (basic + variable) per hour paid when you give hours, otherwise annual pay (Art. 3(1)(b)).
- Variable-pay gaps compare workers who received variable pay only.
- Quartiles rank women and men by hourly total pay into four equal groups.
- A category is flagged when its mean gap is 5% or more in either direction. The flag is a prompt to check for objective justification, not a finding.
- Categories with fewer than 4 women or 4 men are marked "small group": publishing them could identify people.
- National rules can differ: Finland expresses the gap as a ratio, and Lithuania publishes groups only with at least 4 men and 4 women.
